SWAP PEANUTS
FOR PLATO
An overpriced packet of peanuts, a 50ml bottle of Smirnoff and a titchy can of Sprite? Not in our hotel minibar.

We run a weekend class at The School of Life about how to write everyday things like CVs, dating adverts and complaint letters. (We do training for companies as well.) And we’re honorary members of The School of Life’s Faculty. It’s like being supply teachers but with more willing students (and wine).

From time to time we write things for The School of Life too. Minibar For The Mind was a collaboration between The School of Life and Morgan Hotels. When guests open the fridge at the Sanderson in London or the Mondrian in New York and LA, they might find our minibar and provocative conversation starters sitting amongst the Pringles, overpriced peanuts and a 50ml bottle of Smirnoff.

It could also be a priceless work of art one day after being on show at Vancouver Art Gallery’s Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life exhibition in 2013. Here’s what the New York Times said about it.

A surprise thank you from one of the class (have an A*).

WHAT WE DID.

+ Writing training.
+ A one-off writing project (we do them when the brief’s as good as this one).

WHAT WE DIDN’T.

+ The design. Susanna Edwards and Joseph Harries did that.

" Thank you for making it relevant & USEFUL. 'lifechanging' isn't hyperbole!"
